The results are in Australian Pete Jacobs is the 2012 Ironman World Champion with a finishing time of 8:18:37.
Even though Jacobs began the race more than 7 minutes behind the then leader, he came through and won by 5:03 minutes. Jacobs was the second place winner of the 2011 race.

For the woman Great Britain’s Leanda Cave won with a time of 9:15:54 . Cave placed third in the 2011 Ironman World Championship.
Just in September Cave won the Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Las Vegas, NV and has become the second person in Ironman history, and first female, to win the Ironman World Championship 70.3 and Ironman World Championship in the same year.
