Just recently we added a new family member, Trixy, she’s a Fox Terrier/Chihuahua mix and what a cutie.
Back in February we lost our 16 year old baby, Jack, who had a great life, but just succumbed to old age.
Even though we adopted Trixy from the Hawaii Island Humane Society just 4 weeks ago, she has adjusted to our family wonderfully, a little mischievous at times, but go figure she is a dog.
Due to working long hours as a Realtor at the Kona Century 21 All Islands office, I wanted to make sure Trixy had plenty of activities to keep her busy, so this is where Nose for Adventure comes in.
While volunteering for the Humane Society at their PETCO adoption events, I met Melissa Ronan, dog trainer extraordinaire and co-owner with her husband Chris of Nose for Adventure in Kona, HI.
This isn’t your average doggy day care or boarding kennel this is a vacation for your dog. Along with cage-free boarding and play care, Nose for Adventure offers something very unique adventure hikes for dogs of all sizes.
Trixy has joined the “Tiny Tuesdays” group for small dogs 25 pounds and under.
Play care allows your dog to play and socialize with the other dogs. Their boarding is unique in that it’s cage-free with the option of a home-style dog kennel with a comfy bed if needed.
Trixy just had her first over night slumber party and had a great time with other dogs including Petite, her new best friend.
Trixy’s first “Tiny Tuesday” hike and I was told she was a little hesitant at first, but with the patience and expertise of Melissa and her staff, Trixy started to adapt and joined the pack.
Needless to say she was exhausted that night, but when I picked her up she was so happy and it was obvious she enjoyed her new experience.
If you’d like your four legged best friend to have a great experience from caring and compassionate people, contact Melissa or Chris for more information.
